Useful Math Hacks To Help You Score Better
Useful Math Hacks To Help You Score Better 0SHARESShare Conquering math and being super fast in solving problems is quite easy if you know a couple of useful math hacks. For instance, for multiplying large numbers, there is quite a simple trick for numbers close to 100. Knowing that can save you minutes and the error margin is also pretty low! Read on to learn about math tricks and tips from experts such as an online math tutor and score high in your exams. Multiplying a number with 11 is way too easy in maths If you are multiplying a 2 digit number with 11, just write the 2 digit number with a space in the middle. Fill the middle space with the sum of the digits of the 2 numbers and you have the answer. For instance, if you want to multiply 43 by 11, you will get a 3 digit number beginning with 4 and ending with 3. The middle digit will simply be 4+3 = 7 making it 473. Card The reverse order for multiples of 9 If you write down the multiples of 9 (1 to 10), you will find that the first digits in the products follow the sequence 0,1,2, etc. to 9 and the last digits are in the reverse order from 9 to 0; for example, 9*1 = 09 and 9*2 = 18 and so on. Do percentages confuse you? They no longer will with this Math hack! When you wish to calculate the percentage (which is in its tens like 10, 20, 30, etc) of a number, drop the units digit of the number and multiply this with the 10s digit of the percentage you are looking for. For instance, 40% of 200 would require you to multiply 4*20 = 80. This will help you when you purchase at stores and so on as they mostly use rounded off figures or numbers. Learning such hacks could be the best math homework help you could ask for.

4 Ways to Polish Your Resume During Winter Break
4 Ways to Polish Your Resume During Winter Break Image via Pexels Highlight Relevant Elements: A resume is a document designed to make you stand out and shine to employers. Some people tend to crowd their resume with all of their work experience, all of their accomplishments, and all of their skills. While employers are interested in reading about who you are, they are more curious about who you are within the context of their company and the position you are seeking to fill. Because of this, be sure to only include relevant experience and background that relates to the position you are applying for. According to Nancy Collamer, a contributor at Forbes, âThe key is to give heavier emphasis to the credentials, experiences and accomplishments that relate to your objective and less to things that donât.â Integrate Employer Keywords: One important element that can help improve your resume is to integrate important and frequently used keywords and lingo used by the employer/company. Not only will doing this make you stand out, but it will also demonstrate to the employer that you are interested in the company/your position. Collamer adds to this crucial step by noting, âNearly every company and recruiter uses keywords to identify qualified candidates. If you donât use the right ones, your resumé will be overlooked by the electronic applicant tracking systems â" even if youâre the ideal candidate.â Image via Pexels Change up the Formatting: An important element to a great resume is how it looks. Though this may seem superficial, think about it. If something is visually appealing, you will be way more inclined to look at it and want to read it! Using bullet points is a great way to break up the text in your resume, making it easier to read. According to Katherine Hansen, Ph.D., of LiveCareer, âGiven that employers screen resumes for as few as six seconds, they will find your resume a lot more readable if you use bullet points instead of paragraph style.â Though this is minor, it can change how employers review your application. Additionally, do not worry about trying to make your resume one page long. This is a general rule that many follow, but at the end of the day, if you have to cut some of your experience and achievements to fit everything on one page, itâs not worth it, go on to the second! Check for Silly Errors: This may sound well, silly, but because grammar and spelling mistakes are so small, they can be easily overlooked, which can end up hurting your chances of getting hired. Before sending your resume in, revise it for grammar errors, spelling mistakes, etc. This shows employers first and foremost that you care about your image and you arenât lazy about applying. Additionally, Penny Loretto of the Balance notes, âNot only does correct spelling and grammar portray an educated candidate, it also shows the employer that you seriously want this position and that you are willing to take the time to do everything possible in order to get it. Though spending your free time polishing your resume instead of watching Elf on repeat during winter break may not be the most exhilarating idea, it will definitely pay off! When the spring semester comes around and youâre overwhelmed with work, youâll be happy to remember that updating your resume isnât something you have to worry about! Instead, you can simply search for jobs and send it in. As always, good luck!
Your Vote Still Counts
Your Vote Still Counts unsplash.com Like most elections, this one has divided us. Unlike most elections, this one has divided us in a seemingly irreparable way. For most, this is no longer an opinion-based division, but a hateful, pointed division pitting the two sides against one another. A large reason we feel this way is because of the candidates we had to choose from. For months, weâve been explaining this election as a lose-lose. The lesser of two evils. A complete mess. On the one hand, we have everything wrong with our political system. On the other hand, we have everything wrong with our society. So to feel unsure of the future is a pretty normal feeling, and while weâre feeling an amplified version of this feeling in comparison to our past elections, itâs completely expected given the circumstances. That being said, we need to stop, as a group, acting like the world is about to end. He hasnât even taken office yet, and wonât for a while longer. For the time being, we are still under the Obama administration. As a society, we have always accepted the outcome of our democratic system. We have always respected our elections. Respected our system. No matter how angry we are, we have to trust in the system that has gotten us to where we are today. Which brings me to my main point: your vote still counts. Following this past election, raw emotions are a very real thing. For everyone. So itâs easy to feel discouraged and defeated, especially if your vote went to Hillary Clinton, as a majority of the popular vote did. Donald Trump won the presidency based on our system. Yes. This doesnât mean that our system doesnât work, or that your vote doesnât count. How do I explain this in the most simple of terms? If nobody had voted for Donald Trump, he wouldnât be our president. So just by casting a vote, you matter. To put it another way, every individual that voted for a third party candidate, that didnât vote, that left the presidential candidate blank this is a conscious decision, and this is a vote. Whether you mean to or not, you have cast a vote. There was a time where not everyone in our country could vote, so to simply not do so is hard for people to accept, and theyâre correct in feeling this way. Voting is a right we need to exercise. These elections come once every four years, and you can even vote from the comfort of your own home with mail-in ballots. So there arenât any excuses. The reality is: we picked these candidates in the primaries. We picked them. We pitted them against one another. One of them won. Thatâs on us, as a country. Voting matters. Democrat or Republican, your vote landed us these two candidates. Your absent vote landed us these two candidates. Either way, you made a decision that brought on these results. Our country is strong. The issues ahead of us are not new by any means. Theyâve been around for a while. Racism and sexism are not new to us we continue to battle such issues today. And I want to emphasize the fact that just because our President elect is controversial, and just because many of us are afraid of what heâs going to do, doesnât mean heâs going to do anything. Being fearful isnât wrong, but condemning him before heâs made a single Presidential decision is extreme. Heâs said and done terrible things. Most politicians have. If we protested everything that any politician has ever said, weâd have no one left to run our country. That being said, itâs also important that you stand up for yourself in times like this. Donât settle for sexism. Donât settle for racism. Should these issues present themselves during his Presidency, fight them. You wonât be alone. But donât preemptively check out. Heâs still our President, whether a majority of us wanted that or not. Why would we want our country to fail? We wouldnât. So we certainly donât want our President to fail. Itâs hard to imagine, but at this point, the most important thing that we can do, as a nation, is stand behind our President, even if we havenât voted for him. No more, âheâs not my presidentâ rants. He is. Thatâs democracy. Everyone that was willing to condemn him when he stated he wouldnât respect the outcome of the election is hypocritical in saying the same now. This was a little bit of a rant, but I want to let you know that this isnât the end of our country. Rather than letting this election pull us apart, allow it to bring you closer to those you love. Show them what it means to live in a democratic society. And donât let a bad outcome deter you from a system thatâs worked time and time again. In four years, youâll have the chance to vote once again. And I hope you do.
How To Get A Job In A Field That Has Nothing To Do With Your Major
How To Get A Job In A Field That Has Nothing To Do With Your Major Image via Isorepublic.com If youâre still in college, try to squeeze in a minor When you apply for a job in a field that has nothing to do with your major, you will need to provide some sort of proof that you do know something about the field despite not having majored in it. If you changed your career trajectory during your junior or senior year, it might not be practical to change your major. Still, if you have enough time before you graduate, you can try to squeeze in a minor in your desired field. If you canât major in your desired field, a minor is the next best thing! Earning a minor will show your employer that you do know about the field. If you have already graduated, continue your education Of course, if you have already graduated, you canât get a minor in your desired field. However, there are more ways to prove to potential employers that you do know what youâre doing. You can consider getting more education and certification in your desired field. This can be as simple as attending a weekend seminar. Alternatively, if you want to do something more invested and get even more education, you can apply for a post-baccalaureate program. It will take more time, but you will have a formal certificate in the field you want to work in! Getting further education in these ways will youâre your employer that you do know about the field even though you didnât major in it. Volunteer in your desired field Another way you can show your interest in a new field is by volunteering in it. The best way to learn something is to do it yourself! When you volunteer, you will learn all the things you missed in the classroom. You might even learn something about your field they donât teach in the classroom. In addition to learning more about the field, this volunteer experience will look good on your resume. Your resume will look strange to an employer if it has no mention of the field. But if you volunteer, you can mention your experience. Also, volunteering will introduce you to people who work in your desired field. They can be resources and connections to help you land your job in that area. All in all, if you want a job in a field that has nothing to do with your major, you should volunteer in that field! It will help you gain skills and connections that will help you land your dream job. Focus your resume on transferable skills If you want to get a job in a field that has nothing to do with your major, you need to focus your resume on transferable skills. Transferable skills are skills that can be transferred from one job/field to another. They are universal and beneficial for many jobs. Mention these skills in your resume rather than skills specific to the field you majored in. For example, you can emphasize skills such as leadership, teamwork, creativity, and public speaking rather than your knowledge of organic chemistry. When you mention your transferable skills, your potential employer will see that even though you didnât major in the field, you still have skills that can be useful in it. Peoplesâ interests change throughout their college careers because they are discovering who they really are. College students will become totally different people by the time they graduate. In fact, many college students decide they want to work in a different field than the one they originally majored in. If this happens to a younger student, they can just change their major. But what if you are a junior, senior, or even a graduate who suddenly shifted their career goals? It might not be smart to change your major at this stage in the game (or you might have already graduated!). Still, if you work hard, you can still find a job in your desired field. It is definitely possible to find a job in a field that has nothing to do with your major.
